Oberthur Card Systems and Diversinet to Offer Operators Strong
Wireless Authentication Solution
Partnership to Develop SIM-Based Two-Factor Authentication Solution
for Wireless Operators and Financial Services Providers
3GSMWORLD CONGRESS, BARCELONA, FEB. 13, 2006 - Oberthur Card Systems,
one of the world's leading smart card manufacturers for banks and wireless operators
worldwide, and Diversinet Corp. (OTCBB: DVNTF), a leading provider of mobile-enabled
personal authentication and security solutions, today announced the demonstration of a SIMbased
authentication solution designed to address the market for strong end-user
authentication over the Internet.
The demonstration will be held at the Oberthur Card Systems' booth at the 3GSM
World Congress (Hall 8 - Booth B34) from the 13th to the 16th of February 2006 at Fira de
Barcelona, Spain.
Diversinet and Oberthur Card Systems intend to support Internet and security
providers' business needs for cost-effective, mass-market strong authentication solutions. The
use of SIM-based tokens eliminates the need for consumers and corporate users to carry
additional hard tokens, USB toggles or specific smart card readers, since most have a mobile
phone handy at all times. With this solution, Diversinet and Oberthur Card Systems deliver
the industry's most advanced mobile security service to provide OATH-compliant One-Time
Password authentication on all GSM/UMTS mobile phones and networks worldwide.
"With mobile devices becoming ubiquitous worldwide, partnering with Oberthur Card
Systems to reach wireless operators and financial services makes strategic sense," said Nagy
Moustafa, CEO of Diversinet. "We look forward to working closely with Oberthur Card
Systems to market a strong, two-factor authentication solution that will help wireless
customers protect their online banking and other online transactions."
"By joining forces with Diversinet, Oberthur Card Systems turns any GSM/UMTS
handset into a SIM token reader, thereby opening up mass market deployment of security
services," said Alain Jarre, mobile marketing and solutions director at Oberthur Card Systems.
"Through this partnership, Oberthur Card Systems continues to add valuable services to its
SIMphonIC product range, and reinforces its commitment to delivering security-related
products and services to our customers worldwide."
